Is Meta not approving your WhatsApp display name?

Guide to getting Meta to approve your WhatsApp account's display name

When you connect your WhatsApp number, Meta reviews your display name (the name your customers see when you message them). If you see the "Name under review" or "Name declined" label in Nuby, follow this guide.

What Meta requires to approve the name

  1. Have your business verified with Meta

Business verification is done from the Meta Business Security Center. If you haven't done it yet, here is Meta's official guide to verifying your business.

  2. Show your legal name in your store's footer

Your store's footer must show your legal name: your first and last name if you're an individual, or your company's legal name if you're a business. It must be the same legal name you used when verifying your business with Meta.

  3. Complete the number's profile in WhatsApp Manager

Go to WhatsApp Manager, select your number and fill in the full profile:

  • Display name

  • Profile photo

  • Description

  • Website (your store's URL)

All four are required. If any of them is missing, Meta won't approve the name.

How Meta reviews it (important)

Meta's system visits the website you set in the number's profile. If it doesn't find your display name and your legal name there, it declines the name. That's why step 2 matters: your store's footer must show your legal name, and the profile website must be your store's.

The name also has to follow Meta's display name policies: it must represent your business and match your branding, with no all-caps, emojis or extra symbols.

If your name was declined

  1. Check the three points above and fix whatever is missing.

  2. Resubmit the name for review from WhatsApp Manager.

  3. Once Meta approves it, the label disappears from your Nuby dashboard on its own (it updates once a day).
